On the morning of Oct.13th, the opening ceremony of the 17th ISAF hosted by Taiyuan University of Technology took place in the city of Taiyuan. The conference was attended by 200 delegates from over 20 countries comprising various experts, scholars, department leaders, enterprise top management staff and technical staff. As the special advisor of the conference, the former vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, the Dean of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Xu Kuangdi sent a letter expressing his congratulations. Others present included Academician Xie Kechang, National People's Congress Standing Committee member,  the vice-chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, Shanxi People’s Congress Standing Committee member, the chairman of 17th ISAF Organizing Committee, the President of Tiayuan University of Technology, Mr. Lucas Ribeiro, the Chairman of 17th ISAF International Organizing Committee, Mr.Zhang Ping, the Vice Governor of Shanxi Province, Academician Wang Xieqing, the Vice Dean of Department of Chemical Metallurgy and Materials of Chinese Academy of Engineering. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Li Wenying, the executive chairman of 17th ISAF.
